What customers say?

“ Hidden gem. Heavenly wholesome authentic Malaysian cuisine. Has been a customer for years. Carried me through my uni years. Derek and Angela (the owners) are super hospitable. Learned a lot about Ngonya food. And mostly importantly, filled my happy belly up with the best laksa in the world. ”

“ As the age old adage goes: Ask a local. Today I had the immense luck of a direct tip from my friends who live in Hong Kong: "Take the MRT to Tsuen Wan, find this place, we'll meet you there". I obeyed them to the T. The long walk from the station was spent with local's looking at me strangely, this wasn't the usual spot foreigners pottered around. I found the restaurant, hugged my friends and let them order. Nyonya Coming is run by a husband-wife team, him in the kitchen, her out front. The food is 100% authentic Malaysian Nyonya cooking, and everything we had was delicous. You won't find a tastier Laksa in Hong Kong, either the regular one or the sour asam. The noodle dishes, the squid, the oxtail rendang were all faultless. A neighbourhood restaurant most definitely worth going out of the way to hunt down. ”

“ Really delicious, flavorful food and a welcoming lady running the place. I went at opening time (noon) on a Thursday and there was no line, but it got crowded by 12:45. The chicken laksa had a rich, well-spiced soup base (you can choose non-spicy if you prefer), and a generous portion of noodles under the chicken drumstick. Really lovely flavors and the meat was fall off the bone tender. I especially liked the small decorations reflecting Nyonya history and culture, as it was my first time learning about it. A bit of advice for other tourists - the only payment options are cash or a local bank app called Payme (no Octopus card or foreign cards). The restaurant is in the residential building "Central Mansion" - go down the main corridor and up the stairs to your right. ”

“ Lovely. I had this one lined up for ages after reading the other reviews and it did not disappoint. Highly authentic and the auntie who runs the place was extremely kind and welcoming. I had the special Asam Laksa, which was less soupy than typical ones I’ve had, but the spice and herb mix was splendid. It managed to remain very light, while bringing a fruity, fresh taste to complement the typical curry flavors of a laksa. I also enjoyed the authentic Kaya toast, as well as the bits of Nonya culture that decorated the entire restaurant. Hong Kong needs more family run restaurants like this that bring something new and interesting. Definitely worth a try and will be back! ”

“ A restaurant located inside a residential building and it amazes me with the authentic taste of Nyonya. The portion and CP value are all great here, around 100 HKD for a lunch set with big portion. Dining area is limited and relatively small with a open kitchen. ”

“ Extremely cozy and friendly. Truly family run and authentic. I'm guessing the chicken curry was deliberately made less flavourful for Hong Kong tastes, but the chicken literally fell off the bone. The toast and cake definitely feel and taste home made. If they had Nasi Lemak and weren't so far away, I'd go all the time. ”

“ Excellent place for Laksa and some other traditional Nyonya dishes. It is located within a commercial building. 20 seatings are available. Open for lunch. Dinner is served in a set and private dining style. Laksa served in a very rich broth. Live the fishball too. It is tasty enough that it allows you to buy only the fishballs. ”

“ Had the bak kut teh and curry chicken over two separate visits and omg! They are really legit. The Nyonya curry is almost identical to the one my nyonya grandma used to make, you could smell the fragrance of the gravy even before the dish reached the table. Nyonya curry usually comes very oily (my grandma always espoused the importance of LOTS OF OIL to extract the scent of the herbs and spices - hence not great for cholesterol) and this was impressive with only a thin layer of oil on top. This is the most authentic Nyonya food in HK and I highly recommend all Malaysians and Singaporeans to try this place ”
